Monsters and Gorillas, Oh My! — The Monsterpod and Gorillapod SLR Zoom
Even in the world of super-cool, we’ve-been-waiting-for-it-all-year, and how-dare-it-waltz-in-at-the-last-minute camera accessories, the Monsterpod and Gorillapod SLR Zoom are fashionably late.
But like all good hosts, we’re happy to see them all the same.
Of course it helps that they’re both completely and utterly drool-worthy.
Unlike traditional tripods, these things are tiny and super-light. Even better, they can go places and do things no ordinary tripod could dream of. (The gravity-defying Monsterpod sticks to walls, trees, chain link fences, it can even suspend your camera upside down from glass, for gods sake!)
If you think that sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, you’re right. You’ve never seen tripods like these.
OMG. OMG. It’s finally here. We’ve been chasing this one down, hard, since August.
From the moment it appeared at PMA (fancy schmancy photo-people conference), people went crazy over the impossible things the Monsterpod could do. But you couldn’t buy it–no one could.
The wait is finally over. The Monsterpod is here.
What is it? It’s a small, round disc. The camera attaches to one side, and on the other there’s a glob of bright orange viscoelastic polymer. This stuff is magic. Really, magic.
It lets you stick your camera to just about anything — trees, street lamps, plate glass windows, sheetrock, concrete, furniture, cars. It’ll stick sideways, it will hold your camera upside down. The thing sticks to ANYTHING, and you can peel it right off.
You won’t believe your eyes, so take our word for it. It works.

Gravity-defying miracle pod, available now for XMAS delivery.
We loved the original Gorillapod when we took a look at it months ago — it’s tiny, and its infinitely flexible tentacles let it stand on uneven surfaces or wrap around objects (trees, poles, railings, etc.) to get you impossible shots.
Because it’s so light and small, it’s totally practical to stuff it in your pocket or toss it in your backpack or purse.
We’ve been asking Santa for a version that works with SLR cameras all year, and it’s finally here: the Gorillapod SLR Zoom. It holds up to 6.6 pounds of SLR, zoom lens, and flash, and it’s every bit as incredible as the original.
We’ve got both. One bit of warning: We’re one of the first to be able to offer these, and they’re in extremely short supply.
Now available for Point & Shoot and SLR Cameras in limited quantities.
